Benn Jordan has created three videos about the Flock cameras explaining in simple terms how the cameras work. The first video was shared with some members of the Town Council but was brushed off as an "Opinion Piece" without evidence.
His first video shows is an overview of the system, how the cameras create a network of surveillance, how privately owned cameras are included in the surveillance network, how the system has been abused, and some experiments done to fool the cameras.
His Second video demonstrates that the cameras can be hacked (in 30 seconds) and disproves claims by Flock Safety that no video is stored in the cameras. You will also learn that the cameras are android based cameras using an insecure, outdated version of the android operating system.
Finally, the third video demonstrates an even more disturbing fact. You don't even need to hack some Flock cameras to view stored video (31 days worth) or video in real time. He calls this "Netflix for Stalkers". One camera pointed at a playground was viewed by simply putting the camera's IP address into into a video streaming application. Other cameras showed people jogging on isolated trails and others leaving their homes each day for work. Then he shows how facial identification can be used to identify the individuals captured in the videos.

These videos show the vulnerabilities of the cameras. Keep in mind that once the data is sent to the cloud based database there are other risks to your privacy. Getting rid of the cameras is the best way to opt out of this dangerous technology.
