Take Action

Attend a Town Council meeting on either the 2nd or 4th Tuesday of the month. Bring people with you. The meetings are held at the Town Hall, 209 E. Main Street at 7PM. Following the approval of the minutes there will be time for public input (see the guidelines). State your disapproval of the use of AI based surveillance in Rangely. Remember that when challenged about one's decision, many will be defensive. The members may express surprise at your concern and try to make you believe that the majority of the citizens are happy with the cameras. If you have read the many news articles on this site, you know well that once informed the people do not want this. point out:

• The cameras are an invasion of privacy.
• You do not want "Stasi" style surveillance in this town. (see this).
• The data collected is stored in a cloud based database open to hacking.
• The system has been abused in some of the places where it has been installed.
• The cameras are not secure (see the Benn Jordan videos ).
• Flock is sending our data overseas to be analyzed (see this article).
• Flock is a waste of money that could be better used in town.
• There are lawsuits pending against several cities that have installed the cameras.
• U.S. Senator Wyden, Oregon, has done an in depth investigation of Flock Safety, Inc.(see this video)(read his letter to the C.E.O..
• You are a citizen of the Town, The Council serves the public. Get rid of the cameras.

The Town Manager is responsible for the day to day administration of the town. There is now a NEW Town Manager in Rangely. The decision to place the cameras was made administratively by the previous manager and the police department and then approved by the Town Council when they approved the 2025 town budget that was given to them. Call the Town Manager and tell him that you want the contract with Flock Safety, Inc. to be revoked and the cameras removed. The new Town Manager is Jonah Bollinger contact him at 970-675-8476. Be Polite.
